As many of you probably already know CVS has stated that they have officially stopped selling tobacco. I think this is such a great change, and shows a lot of leadership by one of the leading pharmacies in the U.S. I think it is so weird how in the past selling tobacco used to be a good thing. It was a major cash crop that really helped the development of tobacco. After all I think it is such a great thing because in the long run it does after our health.

I think this is such a wonderful idea on their part! Now that society has learned about the damaging effects of tobacco, I hope that more stores follow the example of CVS.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of prohibition, an event that banned alcohol in America in the 19th century. While it's only one company doing so, I still think that it's a good idea to limit resources people can have to feed a detrimental addiction. I agree that tobacco products shouldn't be sold everywhere. However, I can't help to think it may cause some conflicts just as Prohibition did with tobacco supporters claiming it's taking away some individual freedom. (Elizabeth Muscari p6)
ReplyDeleteCVS being a drugstore is supposed to promote healthy living and with this change CVS seems so much more respectable now.
