In multiple cities in Jordan on Friday, At least 12 people, including a young girl, were killed as flash floods engulfed them. The flash floods were triggered by torrential downpours. It forced more than 3,500 tourists to be evacuated from the city of Petra in southern Jordan. The continuing rainfall in the Daba'a region of southern Jordan also led to the shut down of the desert highway in both directions. Many vehicles were left stranded with nowhere to go while the highway flooded and traffic cornered those attempting to leave.
