Why Senate Republicans will not vote on Supreme Court Nominee (Angelique Flores 9th)

summary:

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley signaled on Monday that the senate controlled by republicans will not consider anyone Obama nominates. Obama claims that he will still nominate someone regardless on if they are going to vote or not. Grassley then justified what his position in the situation and senate by citing the words of Joe Biden in his 1922 speech against the considering of any Supreme Court nominee from outgoing President George H.W. Bush.     Grassley soon after the citing of the speech said that the vice president, with his 35 years of knowledge and experience as being a senator "knows what the senate should do" if Obama were to "insist on submitting a nominee under these circumstances."      The vice president then responded on Monday that the excerpt Grassley pulled should not have been used to show how he opposes filling a Supreme Court Vacancy in an election year. Joe Biden then came out and said that his speech " was not an accurate description of my views on the subject" and that he urged the White House to "work together to overcoe any differences the ensure that the Court would Function as the Founding Fathers envisioned."
Many people such as Minority Leader Harry Reid were upset at the Republicans for trying to undermine Obama's presidency by refusing to fill in the vacancy of Justice Antonin Scalla.  Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell rebutted and said that he and Grassley do not believe that a lifetime appointment of the next Supreme Court Justice should be left to "a president who is on his way out the door."

Analysis:

I have to agree with Grassley and the others. they have a very valid point that president Obama is about to leave his place as president and has no say on who should fill in the Supreme Court Justice. why would you leave such an important decision to a president who is indeed on his way out the door. Though Grassley's citing of Biden's 1922 speech wasn't very necessary it proved some points he was trying to make and we should really consider what he is saying and why he will not consider any nominee Obama tries to hand to him.
