North Korea offers possible peace and is then rejected for it--Samantha Arthur 1st period

North Korea used their connection of the United Nations to get in contact with United States officials in New York in order to officially end the Korean War. This attempt to end the war was a response to Barack Obama's comments and statements regarding the fact that the United States was available to engage Pyongyang. However, North Korea's attempt to make an end to the war did not entirely succeed because they refused to say they would not use or get rid of their nuclear weaponry.

I do hope that eventually the Korean War comes to a close and I feel like these attempts are good signs. However, these attempts are only attempts and in order to actually end the war decisions and solutions need to be put into place. Nuclear weaponry as a whole is overly destructive and has unnecessarily taken the lives of millions in the past. It really makes one consider the fact that our world would be so different without such weaponry.

  1. I agree, I think this war needs to come to an end. These weapons are very powerful, and without them I honestly think this war would be over by now. This doesn't just apply to this war, it applies to all wars. Nuclear weapons are destroying human lives and environments.
