Super Tuesday - Kate Fehan 8th Period

The term "Super Tuesday" was first used in 1980, when three Southern States all held their primaries on the same day. In 1988, the modern Super Tuesday was formed when a dozen states banded together to try and nominate someone more moderate in the Democratic party. It ended up splitting the nominations and backfiring completely. The outcomes of Super Tuesday have been pretty accurate when predicting presidential nominations in the past. The first primary was started in Oregon in 1910 and primaries were used nationally in 1968. This year, Trump and Clinton are leading so far. Super Tuesday is March 1st this year. Sanders could pull ahead, but it's unlikely. It's even more unlikely that anyone will pull ahead of Trump who is wildly popular this year for some reason.
