4 Injured in Colorado School Shooting by Jack Higgins period 6

Under an hour ago, Madison Junior/Senior High School in Butler, Colorado went into lockdown after an unnamed suspect opened fire at the school. 2 students were shot and 2 were injured from shrapnel, but luckily nobody was killed and nobody's injuries have been considered life-threatening. There is not too much information to divulge at the time, as this happened extremely recently and information is just being released as it becomes available. This is a messed up situation where school shootings in the country are happening every week - sometimes several times a week - and nobody seems to bat an eye. Is it just becoming the norm for kids our age to think shooting up schools and public places is the appropriate way to gain attention? Is it possible that something like this may happen in the future at Booker T? (Probably not, there aren't very many violent/criminally insane kids at our school, so we should be fine) but regardless of whether or not this may come to our school and directly affect us, this needs to be addressed and we need to put an end to it.

  1. This story is horrible. I wonder what could motivate someone to do such awful things to anyone.

  4. School shootings are good examples of why people should not be allowed to carry guns. Yes, they are used as protection but there are other ways to protect yourself. -Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex
