Plano Shooting. Thursdae Sierocki.

Last week, a man shot and killed eight people at a Dallas Cowboys game watch party. The gunman, Spencer James Hight, was killed by a responding police officer. The victims (Anthony Cross, 33; Olivia Deffner, 24; James Dunlop, 29; Darryl Hawkins, 22; Rion Morgan, 31; Myah Bass, 28; and Caleb Edwards, 25) along with Meredith Hight, the wife of Spencer, were innocently having fun with friends when this event occurred; There was only one survivor. The shooter was always known to be a lover of video games and guns but in his later years of marriage, developed a drinking problem which led to divorce. Official believe this led to his unpredictable actions.
Most of my information on this event is directly from a very close family member. She was best friends with Darryl Hawkins and they even went to prom together. This article is very informative on the subject at hand and the author Lauren Del Ville is purely trying to let the world know what happened. This article was produced only a few days after the incident, so there isn't much information that had been released. Shootings like this are not uncommon in our everyday lives but in the town of Plano, Texas it is slightly unheard of. It also is not unlikely to hear of a shooting where the gunman killed some of his closest friends. The massacre of people who truly matter in our society has been seen all throughout history even from the early 1900s.

  1. It always says someone shot, but it never says why. WHY would he do this.-.?

  2. These shooting are getting out of hand. There is so much violence happening in the world- especially near the places that we live in- and it needs to stop.

  3. It's such a surprise to hear of something like this happening in such a normal suburb town like Plano. It seems shootings happen every week and we've just grown desensitized to the horror, but so close to home it definitely can shake you.

  4. It's horrible to hear that there was only one survivor, and that the shooter was someone who was a family friend. I agree with you Sanaya, it seems like shootings are becoming more prevalent nowadays. For example the one that just happened in Washington at Freeman Highschool.

    1. Oh no the shooter was not our friend one of the victims was a friend. Just to clear that up. I agree, though, with how horrible this event was.

Its so sad to know that now in the 21st century people have to take extra measures of security when enjoying something so simple as a football game.

  6. Perhaps we could tie the matter down to his alcoholism. Alcohol was believed to make people act irrational (it does), this belief lead to the prohibition in the 1920s

  7. This shocks me and makes me sad, I don't know why any person would kill another.
