At this very moment there is a ginormous hurricane looming around Florida and the Florida Keys. Hurricane Irma has destroyed so many homes and cities. One man by the name of John Hines has decided not to evacuate. John Hines lives in a mandatory evacuation area but decided not to leave because his whole life is in Florida. His family, friends, and business. He has been updating news stations with how the weather is and he says it just keeps on getting worse. So bad that palm trees are being bent almost in half by the bustling winds of the hurricane. Many other Floridians have decided to stay back in Florida as well instead of evacuate. Many will not leave because there are so many personal and emotional attachments to their homes in Florida.
The victims of the hurricane need as many prayers as they can get to try and get through this as best as possible. Many other places have been gearing up to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and the devastation it will bring. Faith Karimi, a CNN employee and writer has produced this article going into detail of some of the people that decided to stay back and deal with the storm. This article was written to make others aware of how huge this situation is and that these people really need our help. This can connect to the many other hurricanes we have had such as Harvey and Katrina. Very disastrous hurricanes that brought much strife and pain, but people stayed in their homes where their whole life is because that is the most important to them.

The hurricane has created so much damage, not only physically but also emotionally. It takes a lot of courage to decide to stay in such dangerous conditions: in order to remain in the place you love and consider home.
ReplyDeleteWith emotional connections to everything in their lives, and all that being lost, it sadly makes sense that some people want to stay behind despite the danger.
