Sunday, September 10 2017, Hurricane Irma hit the Floridian peninsula. When it hit it was a category 4 hurricane with up to 142 mph winds. Irma has caused many storm-surge flooding and after it is over may go down to be one of the states worst natural disaster in history. The forecast predicts it will go up into the panhandle and even spread to Alabama, Georgia, and even South Carolina.
Irmas wind speeds have ranged from 70mph to over 100mph. The speeds have been correlating with the part of florida its been hitting. Its caused one of the countries most mass evacuation. Most of the citizens from florida have fleeted to the nearest states escaping (in theory) the disaster, but they did not count on the hurricane following them into their evacuation routes.Although the disaster will be a category one when it reaches, it will still cause flash flooding and electrical surges as well as recommended evacuation from government officials. The Washington post's article is based around the impact in each region of florida. Other articles talk about Irma's destruction. Destruction can't be seen as a whole until after the storm has passed. Therefore the update on each region is most helpful as a resident of florida. The article is trying to provide insight on the storms pathway. Its amazing how disasters that happen once every 100 years happened in the same week. Reconstruction will be expensive but as always, we must stand together and help one another. (:
