A woman from Waynesville was accused of driving a bus while intoxicated. She almost ran off a highway and could not maintain lane control. There were two children inside the bus, who luckily made it out alive. Her blood alcohol level was five times more than the legal limit for commercial drivers, which is very dangerous. When she was given the “horizontal gaze” test and the “one leg stand” test she failed miserably. Her license was revoked and she was charged with misdemeanor. She will be appearing in district court.
I can't imagine being a kid on that bus. They have no choice but to just sit through the ride and have faith that someone will come rescue them. The article didn't mention how old they are, but that could have had an impact on the situation. If they were really young kids, then they would have been too scared and uneducated on what to do in a situation like this, whereas an older kid would have the knowledge on what to do if they can do anything at all. I think one of the purposes of this article was to let readers know that they need to make sure kids become educated on how to tell if someone is intoxicated and if it’s safe to get into a vehicle with them.
That is so sad and unsafe that she would risk two children's lives for some alcohol.
ReplyDeleteThis is very dangerous that she did this while there were children on the bus and risking all of their lives.
ReplyDeleteIf you consume this much alcohol or are an alcoholic, then why would you be a bus driver? Shocks me how people would put other's life in danger this easily.
