North Korea defiant over U.N. Sanctions as Trump says tougher steps needed - Ian Alexander

Summary:
After a unanimous decision, the U.N. Security Council imposed new sanctions on North Korea in response to their sixth and largest nuclear test.  It puts a ban on their textile exports, caps their fuel supplies, and makes it illegal for foreign companies to do any business with North Korean entities.  According to the North's ambassador, these sanctions infringe on their right to defend themselves, and they vow to make the U.S. suffer like never before.  Trump has doubts that the sanctions will do anything, and are "nothing compared to what ultimately will have to happen".

Analysis:
We've put sanctions on them in the past which did nothing.  Kim Jong Un has proven over and over again that he doesn't really care about his people.  Most of the country is starving as it is.  He is so unpredictable that it's hard to know what he's going to do.  If China and Russia can show that they are prepared to enforce the sanctions maybe, with their help, negotiations can resume between us and North Korea.

  1. With all due respect, being a leader means you have to serve the people. By doing this I wonder if he thought of the possible consequences that could affect the people.

  2. Ok. What's the point of sanctions. Think about it. The more sanctions we put on North Korea, the more North Korea is able to depend on itself (eventually). If North Korea manages to depend on itself, what good will these sanctions do for us? Nothing. Nothing useful. North Korea's people will realize the UN were the ones to put this ban or sanction on them. The UN were the ones that added on more suffering to them. The more support Kim Jong Un also gets because of that. So really are these sanctions even really going to do much.
