On September 10, The Rally and March Against white nationalism was held in Portland. Smoke and projectiles were hurled at police officers by Antifa demonstrators during the rallies. Only two were injured and according to the police, seven suspects are in custody. An opposing group also was also scheduled to hold a rally; Tensions rose between the group when police changed the original route to avoid violence.
Patriot prayer leader Joey Gibson told fox-news their rallies are rotted in "a philosophy about promoting love and peace but doing it in a way that's respectful." It was clear some demonstrators were prepared for violence to break out, some showing up with bats and gloves which were confiscated by the police. I think, based on previous reports, that a lot of protest have grown increasingly violent in the past year. Critics question if Antifa's role in the protests cause more harm than good.

That is really sad that violence took place at an event created to oppose groups who have incited violence in our community. I think it is clear that ANTIFA should not be associated with those who are standing for love and toleration. I hope that these actions stop because all they do is depict all people protesting white supremacy seem like they support violence.
