Another hurricane has struck again and now its targeted to hit Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria was just listed as a category 3 hurricane and is not stopping. It is said that the hurricane will hit Puerto Rico and then travel up to the Caribbean Islands. Puerto Rico had hosted shelters for many evacuees of hurricane Irma and now all of those people are bracing for another catastrophic hurricane to hit. All lines of communications have become very weak around that area so many people don't know when the hurricane will hit. Everyone is praying that Hurricane Maria is not as big as the two most recent hurricanes, Harvey and Irma, we these past few weeks.
The Governor of Puerto Rico has established evacuations for people who live in flood prone and landslide areas. Maria is calculated to raise water levels by 5 to 7 feet and produce 12 to 20 inches of rain. Maria has just been getting bigger and bigger and who knows when it will die down. Hopefully this hurricane will not result in as much damage as Harvey and Irma which destroyed many homes and Islands.
This article written by Holly Yan shows us that these people need help and need places to stay while their homes and livelihoods are being destroyed by these catastrophic hurricanes.
