hurricane irma- Jozz Alejandro

CBS News has reported that Hurricane Irma is changing direction.Tampa, Florida is now the next target the level 5 hurricane is heading towards, rather than Miami. Though Miami is lucky enough to miss the wrath of Irma, they will still experience very deadly winds. Tampa natives are now very persistent in evacuating their homes immediately. Irma's powerful winds have already caused 300,00+ power outages and very strong encounters with winds up to 54mph. Areas around the west coast of Florida are estimated to experience up to 15 ft. of water. The evacuations of Florida's coast is one of the largest evacuations ever in American history.

Irma has so many similar characteristics of Katrina. Being a level 5 hurricane, it is so heart wrenching to think America has to go through this once again. Considering the coast states are the most in danger, I hope we can give them the same useful resources we gave Houston during their time in need. Red Cross is doing everything in their power to keep Florida natives as hopeful as possible during this difficult time. I just hope these unfortunate events bring our country together as one and end all of the damage and separation we have endured.

  2. At least we are more prepared for these events than how we were for Katrina. There are some areas that still have not been fully recovered from Katrina and hopefully that will not happen with Irma.

  3. It is crazy to see how much a hurricane can change in just one day. You made this post yesterday, and today Irma has left flooding in Miami and heavy rain. She has also caused 6 tornadoes to touch down in Florida in about an hour! Weather is crazy, and I hope everyone affected is safe.

  4. I hope everyone is safe and has evacuated. Katrina was terrible but we are more prepared for things like these now.
