Hurricane Irma is coming - jade pierre

On Monday hurricane Irma has drastically strengthened to a catagory 4 storm. The storm has recently taken a churn west in the Atlantic Ocean. The citizens of Florida where told to "Expect the worst and hope for the best." They are currently prompting for emergency declarations in Florida and Puerto Rico too. The radars have picked up the storm is going toward the carribiean but by the end of the week meteorologists say it will start to head north. As a result of the storm and a declared state of emergency  education systems have cancelled classes on Tuesday.  On the other hand  meteorologists say that there  is a small window of time that the storm can still re-route so it may not hit the East Coast ,but  that  window  is shutting down quickly.  If it doesn't reroute our East Coast will be impacted by a major hurricane  that will be either category three, four, or five.  Hurricane warnings have been sent out In many islands ( Hurricane warnings issue 36 hours before tropical storm winds are expected). As  of right now in Florida there has been zero warnings issued.

Hurricanes are devastating and they take lives, homes, buildings and  destroy them.  We have recently seen the devastating effects of hurricane Harvey in Houston.  I really hope that if it does hit any countries it won't be as bad as past hurricanes.

  1. If this storm was to hit, how quickly/ efficently do you think financial aid would be administered? After the devastating toll of both Harvey and Katrina, do you think our government is prepared to handle this possibly devastating storm?

    1. Julia Hunt- I honestly don't think we'll ever be truly prepared. We're still dealing with Harvey, and adding another more dangerous hurricane into this situation is going to be disastrous.

  2. People in Houston are still dealing with Harvey and it's gonna take a while for the floods to go away. On top of that, we still have to repair and rebuild buildings and houses etc. At the moment, I don't think we can handle another hurricane.

  3. I hope the citizens of Florida are more prepared then ones of Houston. Lives wouldn't have been taken if people evacuated and properly prepared for Hurricane Harvey ~ Michal Randolph
