Carsyn Gekas 9/11/17

The New York Times published, Irma Live Updates: Now a Tropical Storm, System Heads North. Irma has devastated the Caribbean, and after days of preparation she entered Florida. The people of Florida have been waking up to devastation that will last a life time, however the storm has downgraded to a tropical storm. As of now the winds are up to 65 miles per hour and Irma is moving north towards Georgia. The Caribbean has experienced large amounts of damage, and has reported at least 27 deaths. Florida has reported at least 4 deaths, and 6.5 million people are without power.

Jacksonville is very flooded with some damage, but Tampa as of now is in pretty good conditions. Reporters have traveled to The keys and were shocked by the amounts of damage. It could be the worst hit part of Florida. The flooding in Jacksonville has been measured and it has exceeded the record set in 1964 by Hurricane Dora. Although, the storm does not sound as bad, people are experiencing large amounts of damage and the state as a whole will take lots of time and money to fix. This will hopefully bring the state of Florida together and make it stronger.
