Ellie Bush- Hurricane Irma

About 1.8 million homes and businesses in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties lost power on Sunday afternoon as soon as Hurricane Irma assaulted the lower Florida Keys and thrashed South Florida. For those home and business owners, the wait could be several days or longer for the power to be restored. Cat 4 Irma could cut the power to as many as 3 million FPL customers across the state before the storm is is done with Florida. The repairs and and restoration are forecast to take more than 1 million man hours, but the cost cannot be calculated yet. FPL CEO said that they would be working 24/7 in order to restore Florida.

This article was probably written to raise awareness about the damages that Hurricane Irma has caused. It is devastating that there are so many natural disasters going on at one time. I hope everyone has evacuated Florida and is safe. This article was probably written by someone who is from or lives in Florida, since it gives insight to everything happening there. This hurricane can be connected to Harvey, since they both caused heavy damage.

  1. It truly awful at how much damage natural disasters can cost. 1 million man hours is an extremely long amount of time to fix what was so important to people.

  3. This is so sad! However, I am gald to hear that we are working together to help Florida get back on its feet. Hopefully with enough help, the things Florida lost will be restored.

  4. Hurricane Irma has defiantly affected many and will still be showing her wrath as she continues up in the southern region of the US and the lower parts of the east coast. Knowing who much the rest of the country pitched in to help with Harvey devastations, I hope that they do the same for Florida.
