Ava Noble: At Chicago O'Hare, American Airlines 767 Catches Fire on Runway

Summary:
On Friday afternoon, when the American Airlines Boeing 767 failed to take off, passengers panicked off of the emergency slides as debris was shooting up into the air. The airplane was initially going to Miami. Debris was found as far as a half mile away from the aircraft. It was released that the accident was caused by an engine that had an "uncontained" failure. Soon enough, the right side of the airplane was going up into flames as 161 passengers and workers ran for safety. 20 passengers were taken to the hospital to be treated for their small injuries, however none of the injuries were caused by the fire. After only 30 seconds, smoke poured into the cabin, and everybody was worried the plane was going to blow up. Many passengers had a difficult time breathing. Thankfully, everybody is safe and recovering from the accident.
Analysis/Synthesis:
This article was created by Steve Almasy, Jon Ostrower, and Rene Marsh. It was published on CNN on Saturday, October 29. The public will believe that the information presented in this article is true; CNN has a great reputation of truthful, informative articles. It scary to know that there is nothing someone did to make the plane catch on fire. Clearly it was not someone's fault, which makes airplane safety more questionable. I can synthesize this to when a Boeing 777 in September of 2015 was departing from Las Vegas International Airport, and one of the engines completely failed during takeoff. I think this article makes American Airlines' reputation worse. Nobody wants to get on an airplane that could catch on fire. However, there is no way to ensure safety. Engineers are constantly working on ways to make aircrafts more safe, so I hope they can find a solution to the problems that caused this airplane to catch on fire.
