Alix Burns: Dreamworld accident: 4 dead in Queensland theme park

A deadly ride malfunction occurred on Tuesday at Dreamworld, killing 4 people. Six passengers were riding in a "flume" when the cart flipped after coming in contact with another ride, throwing some passengers onto the conveyor belt, where they were caught into the machinery. Two girls however survived because they were able to "extricate themselves". Dreamworld is currently shut down and is prioritizing the concerns of people whose family members were injured.

I normally enjoy rollercoasters and theme parks, but hearing situations like this when malfunctions occur make me want to avoid going on these types of rides. I heard of another situation like this at Six Flags when a woman was killed because she was not strapped in the ride correctly. Some amusement parks should take much more advanced and serious precautions regularly to ensure the safety of passengers. regularly

  2. This is awful! I might just think about that next time at six flags! I think that we should tighten our restrictions for theme park rides, especially after accidents such as this one!

  3. This is awful. People should not be in any danger at a theme park and the fact that these people came to have a good time but then this happened is tragic.

  4. This is terrible. It feeds into the popular fear of amusement parks. Accidents do happen, but rides need to be properly tested.

  5. When I read your summary I was thinking of the same six flags event! Its really sad that the death rates increase when Rollercoasters are for enjoyment.

  6. I think this is so sad and awful. It breaks my heart to hear about people who go to things thinking they'll be fun, but then something goes horribly wrong.
