Emma Lochabay-Jared Fogle's Ex-Wife Sues Subway

Katie McLaughlin, Jared Fogle's ex-wife, is suing Subway sandwich chain charging that top executives knew of his pedophilia for more than a decade and should have notified authorities. Jared Fogle was a pitchman for Subway. The suit declares that without Jared, their market shares and profits would go down, quoting, "Subway's ambition for sales and growth came at the expense of Katie." Katie states that she can not believe the situation and has been working on finding justice for his victims. Jared Fogle is serving more than 15  years in federal prison and has agreed to pay 14 of his victims $100,000 each (maybe even more for "intentional infliction of emotional distress").

Before reading this article, I had never heard of this situation. This article was written for anyone who has been following this lawsuit or anyone that has a general interest in the matter. It was written to inform everyone on the lawsuit that Subway is under. This article is important because it informs the public of a person who has done a lot of harm to people in our country. This event synthesizes to how Jehovah's Witnesses handled pedophilia cases in the past. Similar to how Subway has incorrectly handled this situation, Jehovah's Witnesses have been accused of having policies and culture that help to conceal cases of sexual abuse within the organization.

  1. I've heard of this situation. It is very conflicting to hear multiple sides of a story as serious as this.

  2. I'm so surprised that I have not heard of this story. This is so scary to hear multiple sides of just one story! I hope everything can be resolved.

  3. This is a really interesting scenario. I feel like a person can't sue an entire company over this type of accusation, but at least Fogle is going to prison.

  4. I loved the way you synthesized this. I have heard about Jehova's Witnesses, and this gave me a better understanding of what the Subway situation is.

  5. I had not heard about this but it is so sad that a company who already makes lots of money put their greed for getting more over correct morals and justice. I hope that everything works out.
