Katie Haidet- Russian, US military planes in near miss over Syria

Summary: A Russian fighter jet and a US military plane flew dangerously close to each other while flying over Syria earlier this month, according to the Pentagon. US Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Harridan classified this has a “near miss” type of accident. Both planes, the US military and Russian fighter jet were flying at hundreds of miles an hour with their lights off on the night. At such an inconvenient time with the tension between America and Russia over the run of Russia in the Syrian war, it would've caused even more conflicts between the two if the two planes would've hit.

Analysis: This article was published by CNN on October 28, 2016 by Peter Bergen. If the two planes would've hit one another the tension between US and Russia would've increased. The article also states that after the “near miss” between the two, the Russian pilot was unaware of the accident. This is similar to the Malaysis Airlines plane that went missing over the summer, as well as lists of other missing planes in other countries. This shows that we need to be more aware of the tracking of planes in other places for our safety and for their safety.
