Anna Czyzewski - Medication Abortion Rivals Surgery

Summary: Recently, a study has shown that abortion by prescription are quickly rising to the same numbers of abortion by surgery. Although these medications were approved 16 years ago, people have persuaded politicians to limit the use of them. Even when the Supreme Court ruled that abortion is a woman's right, many people still believe that this right should be controlled. Medication abortions somewhat provide protection against protesters and violence centered around Planned Parenthood and can be administered at the comfort of the woman's own home. In addition, these medications have brought abortions to many women who are in need. Women in rural areas who are being affected negatively by their pregnancy and run the risk of dying schedule video conferences with doctors in more industrialized places. Since their local doctor may not be able to perform surgery, these women have a huge opportunity to save their lives.

Analysis: Abortion is a very big topic argued by many politicians, especially the presidential candidates. Now that abortions can be done in the comfort of the person's own home, it opens many new opportunities for birth control options and other medicines alike. If something like abortion can be done without surgery, think what else could be done. Medicine in history has always improved and has passed its predecessors in efficiency. Herbal remedies led to surgery, and surgery led to medicine. It's just how technology and innovations work to improve our lives and retain our rights.
