Veronica Jones: Georgetown University student accused of ricin possession

A student of Georgetown University in Washington has been recently charged with the possession of ricin. Apparently he learned how to make it using his phone and then stored it in his room for a month. He was caught after showing a dorm advisor one of the bags. There was enough to kill someone had the substance been injected or inhaled. He was arrested on Friday and a court hearing will be next week.

Is it me, or is this more is is either a plea for help than anything? It has to be it. Either that or the student was being ridiculously cocky/ stupid. No one creates something that is deadly then hands the substance over a month later. Could he possibly have has a different motive, did he admit to making it because he wanted the credit, was he blackmailed?  Whatever happened to cause him to make the ricin, I'm sure we'll find out once the case continues.

  1. That's a very interesting point, veronica. Why would a student have made ricin after all?? And from your summary, it seems like he was trying to seem cool by showing it off to the dorm advisor.

  2. I didn't even know what ricin is until I read this! Now I know how dangerous it is. It is strange though how the kid just showed someone what he had been doing.
