NASA's new spacesuit - Camille Vigil

NASA has recently been planning out and designing what will become its new Z-2 spacesuit, and this Monday, the general public will have a voice in the decision. Voting will be held online on NASA's website, and will feature three different designs to choose from, with voting ending on April 15. The design called "Biomimcry" takes most of its inspiration from characteristics of the ocean, with electroluminescent lights on it whose glow becomes visible in low light. "Technology" takes inspiration from the shape of past spacesuits, but gives a futuristic look to this design, and is equipped with Luminex wire and light emitting patches (both glow in low light) as means of identifying crew members. "Trends in Society" tries to encompass what clothing styles in the future may look like, and slightly "mimics the appearance of sportswear". This design is also equipped with electroluminescent wires.
To be certain, the only think the public is voting for is design, not hardware or technical specs of the suit. I thinks it's amazing to see that NASA is allowing people to VOTE on the design of a new space suit. This is a case where we see technology come full circle, with the developments in space technology converge with those of personal technology like cell phones and computers. I encourage you guys to vote on this, it's a cool way to have a voice in which suit becomes their next one! follow the link to vote/learn more - http://jscfeatures.jsc.nasa.gov/z2/
