SHARE THIS Print Email More sharing Secret Service agents sent home after one found passed out in Amsterdam Ilana Lemack

Three Secret Service agents were sent home after one of them was found passed out after a night of drinking in Amsterdam. The agents were in the Netherlands as part of a contingent preparing for President Barack Obama's visit there this week. The Secret Service agent was found intoxicated and passed out in the hallway of his hotel and the authorities were immediately called. Him, along with the two other agents were sent home as a consequence of their actions. An investigation is also underway.  Obama briefly talked about the incident at his talk in Amsterdam. The agents are blamed for not doing more to prevent another embarrassment for the 150-year-old agency, whose mission includes investigating crimes such as counterfeiting and credit card fraud in addition to protecting top U.S. figures, including presidents.

What an embarrassment for the USA. When we send people to other countries, especially members of the Secret Service, it is crucial for them to be on their best behavior. It is a shame that this man chose to act wild, let alone act wild over seas. It is good to know that other people in charge of our country are responsible and sent these men home. I not only blame the man that was doing the partying but also the other two men for not stepping up and controlling their fellow partner.

Everyone makes mistakes, including Secret Service men. It is an embarrassment that they were sent overseas for a mission and got drunk while not on duty. However, I think it's unnecessary to popularize this incident as it just damages the reputation of all US Secret Service men. I'm sure the guy is ashamed; let's not make him famous for his negative actions.

  2. Didn't something like this happen fairly recently? Maybe it was a few years ago... They should really try to take their jobs more seriously.

  3. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but Americans aren't exactly held in the highest esteem in foreign countries, mainly because of incidents like this, which is an extremely poor representation of the US.
