Rep. Trey Radel busted in cocaine sting- Umair Nasser

Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., was caught buying drugs as part of a federal investigation into a Washington, D.C., drug ring last month and is being charged with cocaine possession. Florida GOP congressman will be arraigned Wednesday in D.C. Superior Court. Radel was arrested Oct. 29 for 'unlawfully, knowingly and intentionally' possessing cocaine. Feds arrested a dealer who told them congressman was a customer. The charge is a misdemeanor and carries a maximum of 180 days in prison and/or a fine of $1,000, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Hearing this happen in real life is quite a shocker for me. I thought that drug use by government officials was just a typical plot in a movie plot that is cynical toward political figures. I am disappointed and appalled that someone in public office decided to engage in behavior of this sort. It is unfair to the people who voted him into office that he act this way.
