America is wasting "$13.2 billion annually" by not eating all of their apples. We can eat the core of an apple, it tastes like just like the apple, there is nothing there but more apple. To do this start eating the apple from the bottom and then keep on keeping on until the top. The seeds are slightly bad for you because the contain cyanide. There is only a chance of dying if you ate a lot of apples and their seeds. Overall, if we would all eat apples in their entirety we could save a lot of money and throw away a lot less good food.
I had no idea that we could eat the cores of apples. I guess the core of an apple is just another illusion we are all tricked to believe like Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, only for all ages of people. As a social experiment I think I may just casually eat apples like this during school and see how people respond. Breaking stereotypes that society holds is always a strange process, from wars to apple eatings, people don't like the truth when it comes later than the lie.

  1. Wow, you got really deep about apple cores.
But it's true. People don't like the truth. I knew about the seeds being poisonous, or at least slightly, so that kept me from eating the cores. But now I know it's safe (in moderation) I'll probably start doing that, too.

  2. This is so interesting! I'd never really thought about eating the core of an apple, but I may try it sometime.

  3. There are a multitude of food items we carelessly through away that would be cherished and savored by millions around the world. We forget how fortunate we are with the constant availability of abundant food and water. Millions of people around the world are starving and, if everyone were to be more mindful of what we throw away and how much food we really need to satisfy ourselves, we can help to conserve more food and provide more food for those who have a very limited supply of it.

  4. This may be slightly random, but we also need to peel bananas upside down (not starting with the stem). Monkeys eat them starting from the bottom and it is much easier to peel and hold them that way.

  5. You are actually supposed to eat your apple from the bottom to the top, and spit out the seeds. This is the most efficient way to eat an apple.

  6. I agree with Griffin, there is so much food that goes to waste. We should really learn what other foods we are throwing away unknowingly and try to do our best to conserve all of the food and money we can.

  7. On the social aspect, eating apple cores in public would be interesting. Who knows how long it would take to break this apple core trend???

  8. P.S Meg is totally right, I peel my bananas like that and everyone thinks it's weird even though it makes more sense. Society develops strange ideas about the littlest things
