Patience Henderson 1st Period: 2 are dead in Colorado mine accident; 19 injured

Early Sunday morning, 270 miles away from Denver in Revenue-Virginius mine near Ouray a mine accident occurred. A mine exploded leaving 2 people dead and 19 others injured, authorities still aren’t really sure of what caused the mine to explode. They say if it wasn’t an explosion then then mine just collapsed. U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez said it appeared to be an apparent explosives accident. The two miners that were killed in the incident were Nick Cappanno, 34 from Montrose, Colorado and Rick Williams, 59 from Durando, Colorado the cause of both of their deaths were carbon monoxide poisoning.

Analysis:

One thing about this incidents when it’s something like this and you don’t know the cause of the explosion/collapse you don’t have anything to go off of. Even though they aren’t sure about how it happened I feel like they should’ve known what had actually happened before outing the story. Although, this is a serious matter I feel like they should do investigating to actually make sure that mines are safe and that the workers working in the mines are fully protected. Yes, they know the risks of working in a mine I feel like they should get proper clothing or gear so some of this can be prevented.
