Police affidavit offers chilling details of teacher's slaying- Alix Kast

Philip Chism, a teenager accused of raping and then murdering his high school algebra teacher, has more and more apparent evidence piling up against him. Colleen Ritzer, the teacher who was murdered, was 24 years old. Her throat was slashed, and she was raped with some sort of object. School video surveillance placed them in the same area around the time of her death, and captured his actions as he went in and out of a Woman's restroom after his teacher. It showed him leaving to get a recycling barrel, returning, and leaving with the barrel again, taking it towards the student parking lot. His apparent motive was that she upset him in class when talking about his home state, Tennessee. The day after she died, he was found by police, carrying a knife, with a bloodstained box cutter in his backpack, and women's underwear. He also had Ritzer's credit cards and driver's license. The recycling barrel, along with clothes, bloody gloves, along with a note that said "I hate you all" were found near the area where her body was found. His mother said that they moved because of a stressful divorce. Chism's father appears to have been abusive as well. Chism was indicted on charges of rape, murder and armed robbery.

This case is horrifying and gruesome. The idea that someone in high school, like us, could do something this terrible is pretty unnerving. From what the video shows, I don't know how it could be anyone other than him. He must have used the recycling barrel to move her body to his car, and then to another location. If the police have absolute proof that it was him, then he needs to be put in jail for life. He is obviously dangerous, and by doing this, he ruined his life and future. However, it seems like there were other things influencing his anger and issues, like a bad relationship with his parents. Ritzer was likely to have just been the unlucky person who suffered from his rage.
