Child Killed in Apartment Fire- Victoria Lennox 2nd Period

A little boy was killed and three other family members were injured on Sunday, November 24 in an apartment fire in Southeast Dallas. Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman, Jason Evans, says the first units to arrive at the scene encountered flames coming from the second floor. A woman and two of her children were able to escape with injuries but the five-year old boy was trapped and pronounced dead at the scene. “All of a sudden, we heard a big boom,” said neighbor Troy Randle. A video shows two apartment residents trying in vain to battle the fire with extinguishers. “Residents broke down in tears as the fire grew out of control. They said the kids were trapped inside the bathroom and the fire people had to bust down the door to get them out.” says LaDettrick Tyson. No one else was hurt and the cause of fire is under investigation.

This is really sad to hear. The whole family and others affected by this incident are in my prayers. I hope that this serves as a message for all families to test their smoke alarms and plan a way to get out.
