These 9/11 Families Still Don't Have Their Relatives' Remains 16 Years Later
Summery: This article talks about the victim’s families of 9/11 the beginning of the article introduces us to a man named Charles G Wolf who knows he will never get remains for his deceased wife Katherine, though he hopes they (the people who find remains of the people lost on 9/11) will find at least her wedding ring. Nothing has been linked to Katherine yet and Charles doesn't think there ever will be. He simply wishes for miracle for closer. Wolf being one of many people who hope to one day finds remains of their family members. Remains that only fit inside an envelope. 40% of the 2,753 tragic victims have been identified through DNA samples from family members from 9/11. This only counts towards the World Trade Center. This search is continuing to today with the 1,641 victim being identified last month. The unidentified victims or in claimed remains (from the World Trade Centers) is now underneath the memorial and is not upon to the public.
Analysis: This article was publish in time magazine and written by Alana Abramon. Though she doesn't tell any information of her personal memory of 9/11 or if she lost anyone in the World Trade Center, she wrote the article with a hint of hope. The article was published today on 9/11 2017 being an 16 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. I knew a lot about the event of 9/11 and the future effects it had on America, but I never knew how it affected the victims family today and now I know why this event is talked about every year. 9/11 was more than just a terrorist attack, it was the first major one to happen in America since Pearl Harbor 1941. Plus it wasn't long ago at all. This was a mere 16 years ago, my mother told my father that she was pregnant with me and my sister on 9/12/2001. Though it doesn't affect me personally I know it affects hundreds of people personally and it affects our nation as a whole whether we'd like to admit it or not. I don't think there will be a day where people don't talk about it until America faces another terrorist attack, which hopefully we won't have to.
Seemed a little rushed, but overall well done. Maybe consider fixing the typo in summary.
ReplyDeleteConsidering that 9/11 took a lot of lives with no warning I'm pretty sure not all of the people were found but to have it seem like that person was never there is what nobody would expect. I would be devastated if I had someone that close to me die with no trace.
ReplyDelete9/11 feels like just another date in history for many of the teens my age. But its hard to remember that it really does effect so many people.
