Sam Wood- Students attacked with acid in France

Four American women, who attend Boston College were attacked with hydrochloric acid in Marseille, France. The incident took place at the Saint-Charles Train Station. Even though there were fears this was terror-related, French police say it is not. Authorities say the attacker is a 41-year-old woman with a history of psychiatric problems. A local French newspaper said the arrested women wanted others to suffer like she had. She showed policemen that she was a prior victim of an acid attack herself.

Acid attacks are no new problem. In Europe, people use acid as a weapon instead of using guns, which are very hard to come by in Europe because of anti-gun laws. In fact, there were 454 total acid attacks in London alone in 2016, which is almost triple the amount of acid attacks in London from 2012. This I think will only get worse and worse as the world continues to become a more divided place.

  1. Terrorism in France seems to be a very big problem in the recent years. Hopefully France can get some support from other countries or strengthen up their authorities because I have been seeing many articles about terrorism in France.

  2. It truly saddens me to hear about these acid attacks, because they carry with the victims for the rest of there lives. I wonder if the influx in acid attacks correlates to the increase of refugees in these European countries.
