Sam Romine Los Angeles La Tuna wildfire: Evacuations ended as Crews Make Gains

The author of this article states that firemen in Los Angeles are making progress on the containment of a record setting wildfire that has devastated many homes in the area.
This article was written by Tom Stelloh, and it was written on September 4th, 5:06 a.m ET, which translates to 4:06 a.m Central. This means the article should have relevant information, but may have had an unreported update due to the nature of wildfires and how quickly they can come and pass. Before reading this article, I had no clue that a major fire was rampaging through the LA area, which means my understanding of the article is limited due to lack of prior knowledge, and my interpretations are that the fire is of medium proportions but is not receiving major coverage due to the massive coverage of Hurricane Harvey.
This article was written to inform people that firefighters are regaining control of the situation in Los Angeles, and this services people who are trying to stay up-to-date on the stage of the fire. This incident is similar to the apartment complex fire earlier this year in that it is taking many people out of their home, as large-scale fires usually do.

  1. I had seen a little bit about this story in a brief snapchat news story (educated I know) but barely knew anything about it. It seems like a lot of important things have not been covered because of Harvey. I wish that this issue would be shed in a brighter light considering the fact LA is one of our largest cities. Do you think the news agencies need to cover this story more or do you think it is receiving the appropriate coverage? In my opinion it isn't getting enough however I don't want to take away from what is happening in Houston and other Texas costal cities. Complicated Issue.

  2. Liam Wise- Definitely alarming to hear about a wildfire, even if it is from a snapchat news story. However, I imagine that (although the forest fire is quite devastating) it won't come close in terms of coverage to hurricane Harvey. It just doesn't cost as much. It's a tragedy that this natural disaster isn't getting the proper amount of attention from the masses. Hopefully, we can clean it up before the news cycle finds out.

  3. It won't have the same coverage as Hurricane Harvey but it is still important to know about these things. Thankfully, firemen are regaining control of the situation and will put an end to these fires.
