It seems as hurricane Irma continues to claim human lives, this example will join the rest. After portable air conditioners malfunctioned (the home still had power) and an awful heatwave set in, 8 elderly residents between the ages of 71 and 99 tragically perished. Upon closer investigation, it was revealed that the home only lost the transformer that powered their air conditioning system, possibly the most crucial system in the home. After these particular events we can only hope to be more prepared in the face of disaster so that we can better conserve human life.
