With the damage southeastern Texas is suffering at the moment with the remnants of Hurricane Harvey, more damage is the last thing we need. But, as a new hurricane is forming over the Caribbean, Florida could be potentially end up in the eye of a new storm. With this hurricane strengthening to be a Category 4, evacuations are soon to be taken in Florida with Irma approaching in the next week or so to the southeast coast. With the total path of Hurricane Irma unknown, citizens need to be ready for evacuation at any time, since the worse of this hurricane is yet to be located. "Irma is expected to reach a peak strength of 150-mph winds and churn up a dangerous storm surge across a wide swath of the Caribbean before moving toward southern Florida later this week", ABC news says. Hearts are still with Houston, but reality is catching up to Key West and other southern cities in Florida.
In the past two weeks we have seen the damage that Hurricane Harvey has done to areas surrounding Houston, Texas. Hopefully, Irma will not be nearly as devastating and take as many lives, homes, and memories away from innocent families. Hopefully, the worst of the Hurricane damage has passed, but thoughts and prayers go out to families who could end up suffering from the damage soon to come in Florida.
It's too bad that there's another hurricane coming. They are so incredibly devastating physically and mentally as well. I couldn't imagine having to be ready for evacuation at any time.
ReplyDeleteApparently Hurricane Irma has gotten so severe that it's being measured using the same scale as major earthquakes (mainly because it has become too large for hurricane scales). It has also elevated to a category 5. It's horrible how the US is being hit by such large storms in so little time.

ReplyDeleteThere should be some kind of hurricane prevention system, I know that it's extremely difficult to make, but it would be highly beneficial. It's going to be tough to rebuild the damage Harvey has already done.
ReplyDeleteHurricanes can do so much damage. It will take years to rebuild what was damaged during Harvey. With the refuge centers we have, we can help families that have lost everything try and find their way back to what their life once was.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the events that happened with Harvey, I hope people stay safe and are well prepared just in case something devastating happens.
ReplyDeleteWith all of the devastation Hurricane Harvey caused, I couldn't imagine the lives of the people who will be hit by Irma as well. Hopefully we can overcome and rebuild when these awful storms pass.
ReplyDeleteHurricane Irma is a category 5 now, the same category that they classifies Hurricane Katrina. We all know how that went down. Hurricane Harvey was already bad enough, but another one? Hopefully it disperses before it hits. If it doesn't, I pray for those in the disaster zones
ReplyDeleteUmm this isn't my third comment. But to those of you who have issues with bad grammar . Yes I know there is an error in the first sentence. It should be classify not classifies.

ReplyDeleteIt makes my heart heavy knowing what victims of Harvey have gone through. I can't even begin to imagine how they must feel. It's hard to a believe another damaging blow will strike our coasts decimating lives and cities yet again. Especially in such a short time. One thing that does amaze me though, is how willing we are to help others in need. If we can't be directly helping on the scene, many send needed supplies. It's good to know that there's hope, help, and people who care about you. (even if they're stangers)
I was very dissapointed when I heard the news of another hurricane possibly coming forth. It's scary to think that it could be just as bad (if not worst) than the "famous" hurricane Katrina. Even though I would like to hope that it will not be as devestating as Harvey, I feel (based on the tracking and evidence already shown) that if Hurrican Irma hits, it is likely to be very devestating and hurtful. I really hope that everyone will be okay, and that damage to Florida and it's people will be minimul.

ReplyDeleteIts truly devastating to think that the only actions that can be done to protect the people is evacuation. Reconstruction can be very financially and emotionally draining. Hopefully we will find a solution to prevent or diminish the destruction of more lands.
Many scientists believe there is a direct link between global warming and both the frequency and severity of hurricanes. It stands to reason that if we, as humans, are doing things to cause global warming, we need to develop and implement programs to reverse this trend. Otherwise, the frequency and intensity of hurricanes will continue to grow.
ReplyDeleteThe hurricane is going to pass the by the Caribbean islands and Florida and since its A category 5 while Harvey was a category 3, we can only hope that no one will get hurt and will take the necessary precautions.
