Kentucky School Shooting
This past Tuesday, a school shooting took place in a Kentucky high school. A fifteen year old opened fire and injured 16 students, killing two. The two victims were 15 year olds Bailey Holt and Preston Cope. Bailey is described by her parents as an "angel on earth". Her last act was calling her mother, but she was unable to speak other than panicked screams. Bailey died on the scene. "She was the perfect daughter," her parents said. Preston Cope was the other victim who suffered fatalities. Preston's family however, got to say goodbye to him. They arrived as he was being ushered into an ambulance. They said their good byes and I love you's, and Preston died on the way to the hospital. The suspect, who has not been released for he is a juvenile, is to face a grand jury in February and is being charges with murder and twelve counts of first degree assault.
This is is so frightening. The fact that a shooting has taken place nearly every single day of this year is so scary. I believe we need to make reforms. I understand that many want to protect their second amendment rights, but how many innocent lives have to be lost until change can be made? Adults and children alike have suffered at the hands of these malicious crimes. The suffering it brings to their families is a fate as painful as death. These young teens were innocent and had their whole lives ahead of them. It's really hard for me to read these types of articles, because the whole experience is excruciating. I do hope that we can take steps to prevent these tragedies and preserve the lives of so many.

ReplyDeleteI remember how earlier this year it seemed that a lot of school shootings were occurring but it's so sad to hear how they're continuing to increase. I do agree that a change needs to be made because this is horrible.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the idea to increase firearm security and availability to almost anyone. It’s saddening that a place where someone should feel safe like School is being threatened more and more each day because of the lack of firearm policies and restrictions
I agree that this is extremely frightening. I change needs to be made in order to insure safety.
