Flu Season - Ellen Fritz

This year's flu season is one of the worst the US has ever seen. Taking the lives of at least 37 children (children are common victims of the virus) in the US according to the CDCP (Center of Disease Control and Prevention), this year has been one of the most deadly flu season so far. Young children with heart or lung diseases or older folks have a much higher chance of dying when affected with influenza. The CDCP recommends that parents should vaccinate their children.

I think that a lot of the reason more children are not being given flu shots and therefore, contracting the virus is because of conspiracy theories of the links of autism and vaccinations. Its pretty dumb that a parent would risk their child getting life threatening diseases because of a rumor.

  1. That’s so scary to think that you can die from the flu. I know a school that’s closed for two days to disinfect and I think that’s something a lot of other schools should do to help prevent this.

  2. It's horrible that the flu is so killer this year. And the fact that the vaccines aren't working is yikes.

  3. This is quite sad. I cant believe that people can still die from the flu, even thought its one of preventable diseases.

  4. I don't think that all of them are conspiracies, most of those cases have been proven. I will agree that the flu is progressively getting worse, but if those people who trust vaccines vaccinate their kids, what do they have to worry about?

  5. Synthesis? What can you link this to in history? Do you know the history of inoculation?
