The chairman, vice-chairman, and treasurer of USA Gymnastics resigned under pressure from the U.S. Olympic committee on Monday in the latest fallout from the Larry Nassar scandal. Nassar is the former women's team doctor for USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University who has pleaded guilty to abusing young patients. His misconduct, hardly misconduct (more like abuse), has left many patients with trauma beyond repair.More of his victims spoke at his sentencing hearing on Monday. MSYU has stated that at least 12 assaults by Nassau were reported.
This is so heartbreaking that so many of these young girls have gone through sexual assault. Sexual assault should never have to happen and the effects it leaves upon someone are permanent and damaging. Young women and just women in general should not be preyed on by older/creepy men, and it is so disappointing that Nassau abused his position of authority like that.
