Current Event- Ellen Whitehead

This past weekend, Marvel's "Black Panther" premiered. This film brought in a record-breaking box office weekend. In it's first three days, the movie brought in around $201.8 million, just in North America. This number undoubtedly outranked the record for the most money brought in by an African American director. The title used to belong to F. Gary Gray for "The Fate and the Furious"at $98 million. This film was estamated to bring in around $235 million in its first four days of viewings. However, so far, this film ha brought in more than $360 million. It is incredible how this occurs. Happy (almost) African American History month from a story that definitely earned its place on the timeline!
