Democrats Lost the Argument and other Top Takeaways from Washington's Lost Weekend- Miadora Ibanez

Summary: On January 19, 2018, congress launched a shut down that would last until Monday afternoon January 22, 2018. This is known as the "Lost Weekend." The argument was whether to reinstate the Obama immigration bill DACA, which protected the immigrants who were brought here to the U.S. illegally as children. Today, Congress voted to reopen the government to continue to negotiate a global agreement by being given a 3 week extension. If an agreement isn't made by February 8th, the Senate will immediately proceed to consider the legislation with DACA.

Analysis: This whole situation is a mess in my opinion, I think the immigrants who came here illegally as children should stay. They've worked their way up just like everyone else did and that shouldn't be taken away from them. As far as Congress, if they couldn't agree on something by now (they've had the opportunity since October 1st) getting the 3 week extension probably won't make much of a difference. We'll just have to wait for February 8th to see how this will pan out.
