Tajia Stroud (5th period): 'Casper' Octopus May Be New Species***

Summary***
According to Ocean Exploration and Research, this small octopus was discovered in Hawaii and was found roaming deeper than any octopus would be. At 4,290 meter deep in the ocean, the unfamiliar octopus's physical appearance also slightly differed from that of a known octopus's. It was fairly smaller and its tentacles had only one row of suckers, while the usual number is two. They were also less muscular.

Analysis***
I think that this article really showed that although there are several extinct species in the world, there is also evidence that there can be brand new members of the planet Earth. This is a wonderful discovery and I really hope that this creature and all other freshly discovered ones are seen as the new life that they are and protected by all to appreciate it. I think that it would be a great idea to study this animal further to learn more about it and how it came to be, but scientists should never get so far into "studying, or testing" that they end up exploiting it and making it endangered as well.

check him out, he's pretty cute!

  1. I think it's amazing that despite how long we've been on the Earth, we still have a lot to discover about it.

  2. If we spent as much money on discovering earthly species as we do on space exploration, we'd find a lot more like this octopus!
