US man Kim Dong Chul 'admits stealing North Korea secrets' Jasmine Rodriguez Period 4

This article is about a man who admitted to stealing military secrets from North Korea in order to aid South Korea. He was born in South Korea but is a United States citizen. He had to give a public confession in North Korea as instructed by the North Korean government. He claims that his arrest for espionage is partly influenced by the Unites States, as he was originally introduced to the South Korean spies by U.S. intelligence officials.

This relates to the actions taken by the U.S. during the Korean War. The United States was trying to aid South Korea in resisting the communist influence of North Korea. Just like the events in the article, the U.S. was using secret tactics to try and assist South Korea. During the Korean War, the United States was trying to give more territory to South Korea by pushing the division southward (now the 38th parallel).
