UN's warning on nuclear terrorism -Nicole Chatham 6th period

This week I read an article that talked about the warning on nuclear terrorism by UN atomic chief Yukiya Amano. In an interview on Thursday, Amano stated "Member states need to have sustained interest in strengthening nuclear security. The countries which do not recognize the danger of nuclear terrorism is the biggest problem." The article continues to talk about how there is still enough plutonium and highly enriched uranium to make 20,000 weapons of the same magnitude that was used on Hiroshima in 1945, and the dangers of nuclear weaponry.

Analysis- This article is very important! Safety is such a top priority and nuclear weapons create a huge threat to the safety of many!! I can relate this article back in US history to World War 2. In 1945 World War 2 was ended with the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This extremely sad event has led as an example of mass destruction by nuclear bombs and has shown the devastation that can be caused by it. This article relates specifically to these events, and shows how our past continues to shape our future, as we make efforts in avoiding the same mistakes.

I believe that nuclear weapons make some people power hungry, and no one should hold that amount of power in their hands. The U.S. never should have retaliated in that fashion, and Japan never should have bombed an unprepared American naval base.
