North Carolina Attorny Refuses to Defend Anti-LGBT+ Bathroom Law (Bella Di Fazio 8th)

In North Carolina, a law was recently passed that enforced people to use the bathroom that corresponds with their sex, not their gender identity. Attorney General Roy Cooper said that he his against this law, not only because of its effect economically (because this discrimination could drive away tourists), but because it is a discriminatory law.

This is very similar to the laws passed in the 60s that restricted people in certain places because of their race. Even though this news is not especially popular, it still demands attention because everyone deserves the freedom of self expression and an equal life no matter what part of the LGBT+ community they're in. Hopefully, this story will bring into light the other discriminations LGBT+ people face, like being denied a marriage license or adoption refusal.
