Kenley Turner 3rd period- Fidel Castro Blasts Obama's Trip: Cuba doesnt need 'empire' for anything

Summery: Fidel Castro rejected Obama's visit and his words of reconciliation. Although Fidel Castro is retired he still has a lot of influence on the country and says we dont need anything from the empire. Obama  talks about how he wants to rebuild a relationship regardless of the past, but Castro disagrees. He claims that the US has abused Cuba.

Analysis: It is hard to move passed things that have been planted in our past for so long. If Castro feels that America has abused Cuba, then in a way, it probably has. America has endured many mistrusts with Cuba as well, such as the Cuban missile crisis, and basically any other event that has happened in the cold war. But it seems like our democracy is secure, so what is the problem? Maybe there is a personal relationship that cannot be reconciled. Obama seems very honest in his speech, but his term is almost over, so it is really up to who ever takes his place to carry out his promises.

  1. It's amazing that what we're studying right now is so relavant today. America most likely has the same stance on communism as so many years ago.
