Every year, North Korea has a military drills event which includes over 300, 000 people. During the time of the event, North Korea has had a history threatening the U.S. and South Korea. As stated by BBC, last year North Korea threatened "to turn Washington into a 'sea of fire.'"
The UN recently put sanctions on North Korea after certain nuclear tests. Following these sanctions on Saturday, a cargo ship form North Korea arrived in the Philippines and will undergo UN inspections. These heightened times is analogous to The Cold War, for there is no direct war being fought, but there are tensions on the power of the communist country and nuclear policy. Furthermore, I believe that the UN sanctions as necessary in preventing another nuclear war and are important for restricting policies in North Korea.
