Feminism is the reason patriarchy still exists. Sam Smathers 4th

“Women Wear Too Much Makeup Because They Mistakenly Think Men Like It”
By: Olga Khazan from the Atlantic
Commentary by: Sam Smathers

This article is about how women think that wearing a lot of makeup is attractive. The author conducted a study where she gathered a group of women off of the street and took a photo of them with no makeup and then a photo of them after they had applied the amount of makeup that they would wear to go out in. Then she presented the photos to men and women and asked them what photo was more attractive, and what photo they think other men and women would prefer. The general conclusion that was made was that women wear too much makeup, and that neither men nor women find “full makeup” to be all that attractive.
I think that women that dress for men have it all wrong. Guys generally don’t really care about what you wear as long as you look nice. Girls judge what you wear hard core all the time, girls judge your makeup and your hair; you are kidding yourself if you wear makeup for boys. Honestly I think women endorse patriarchy more than guys do, we endorse the image that we hate. We all go on diets and run because we want to look like this ideal girl. In public we claim to hate the idea that we have to look like X, but behind closed doors we all do crunches and eat salad. The problem isn’t that women wear too much makeup; it is that the counterculture, the feminists, doesn’t actually want equality. Their whole existence depends on the sustaining of the system they wish to abolish. Feminists wouldn’t know what to do with themselves if they weren’t being subjugated, and that is why they wear makeup. Without the conflict of subjugation there would be no battle, therefore, in short, their whole existence depends on women wearing makeup. In conclusion, women still wear makeup because we subconsciously want to endorse a system that has been in place since the beginnings of society, and because we think that it makes us look pretty. And when you look at this whole issue from a wholesome perspective, the problem isn’t makeup it all, it is feminists, and all other leftist movements.

  1. I don't think that when women wear a ton of makeup that their attractive. I feel like you should only apply a light amount of makeup if you feel like it. Besides, if you put a ton of makeup on and you receive a compliment, aren't they just saying that, "All that colorful dirt you put on your face is pretty."

  2. I think makeup should be in moderation. You shouldn't look unrecognizable without your makeup

  3. Makeup is art and how much one should wear depends on how much they want to wear. It really doesn't matter as much as people think. Also, not everyone wears it or exercises to endorse the patriarchy; this is a very broad and varied issue and should be treated as such.

  4. This is really ignorant. The patriarchy is the REASON feminism exists, not the other way around. Obviously women have been fighting for their rights for centuries but why would they have to if the patriarchy didn't exist? Not to mention not everyone wears makeup or exercises for other people; you know. They're plenty of women out there, myself included, that do that for themselves. For example - some trans women wear makeup for THEMSELVES, because it makes them feel good. Honestly the notion feminists want to sustain the system they're born in is hideously stupid. I'd rather fight for equal pay than 'endorse' a system that is apparently dependent on women wearing makeup products. Do more research into some actual feminism, please.
