Shooting in France- Madison Malonson

12 people were shot and two were killed after a gunman ( who is still at large), opened fire at a Christmas market in Strasbourg, France. The scene caused panic throughout the city. The police are still trying to find the shooter, and people are most definitely still scared. The market will be closed for the next couple of days, but people will be able to pay their respects to those who lost their lives.
It is incredibly sad that even during the holiday season, people are in fear of their life. It also goes to show, that America is not the only country that is plagued by gun violence. In America we have had a lot of issues with gun violence and we should continue to try to make a change. I hope in the future I won't have the opportunity to write about another shooting in America or in another country.

  1. I find these situations to be extremely scary and something definitely needs to be done to prevent this from this from continuing on into the future.

  2. I'm hoping that if the U.S. manages to keep the gun violence somewhat under control that other countries will feel moved to take similar action. It continues to sadden me that gun violence prevails in both America and other countries like France.

    1. I agree with you. If the US and France enacted gun laws like those in Japan I feel like gun violence could be greatly reduced.

  3. Guns are outdated and have no use in the hands of everyday citizens. People will keep getting injured and killed at the hands of strangers without even a war to excuse it.

  4. While it did not occur in the U.S., I hope this helps to send a message about the dangers of gun violence to legislator-makers in the U.S.

    1. Gun violence is a topic that is not spoken about enough due to harsh partisan lines in the US, so I doubt it will get the attention it deserves.

  5. Its terrifying when you truly consider the world we live in. Its become normalized but when you really think about it, its unnerving. Shootings can occur anywhere and nowhere is safe.

  7. It is a shame that we cannot step outside or go to school without the constant fear of a crazed person with a gun something needs to change.

  8. Gun violence is something that should never be normalized because its not normal! You cant walk out pf your house with confidence that you are going to get home because any place is a target!
