After the announcement that Kevin Hart would host the Oscar's, many people became outraged after old, homophobic tweets were brought into the public eye. Kevin Hart released a video response where he addressed the situation, and stated how he was tired of his past mistakes being brought up time and time again. Nick Canon vane to Hart's defense, pointing out how Hart's tweets are not a singular case and many comedians had made similar remarks as well.
In my opinion , people can change. If Kevin Hart was still as homophobic as his past tweets imply, I doubt he would have came to our school, possibly one of the most LGBTQ+ accepting and liberal schools in America. I believe Hart's words were in poor taste, but I believe he has learned from his mistakes and moved on. If someone says something that offends you or is ignorant, like Hart's tweets, please correct them in a polite manner and explain the context and history behind their words.

I definitely agree with you on this subject. This is why you need to be careful when posting on the internet because of things like this. It is also important to make sure that if your views change over time you need to edit your past feeds accordingly.
ReplyDeleteTo be respectful he could apologize, but for what? For some people getting upset over tweets from years ago that could have no context nor intention to disrespect nobody? With respect to the community, don’t pull down his success because a tweet and I repeat a tweet bothered you. He could put in more effort to solve this issue but there’s two parties at fault here.
