Victoria Garza "Hopeful Start for First Uterus Transplant Surgery in US"

A 26 year old woman from Texas, born without a uterus, was recently a recipient of a donor uterus. Within minutes of being put on a list for transplants, she received a match. The woman got this surgery with the hope that she would be able to have her own children in the future. After the 9 hour surgery was complete, she became the first woman in the US to receive a uterus transplant.
It is amazing to hear these kinds of stories. Not only are we giving a woman a chance to bring new life into the world, but we're also expanding our capabilities in science and research. This opens doors to other potential surgeries and different ways to help others. This relates to US history because it is similar to the various vaccines and cures we have discovered to help those suffering from various diseases and conditions.
